The Beach
Known since the
early 1900''s as "The World's Most Famous Beach", because early
speed records were set on its wide hard-packed sand, the beach
was the first attraction to draw tourists to the area, and
remains the primary draw for most visitors today. The popular
beach runs from Ormond-by-the-Sea to the tip of Ponce Inlet.
Beach accesses are located every few blocks along A1A, with
beach ramps for cars available at regular intervals from Granada
Blvd south. Off beach parking is available at lots adjacent to
the beach at no cost. In the central beach areas, vendors offer
food and beverages and a variety of vehicles to rent for driving
on the beach, from dune buggies to low-slung tricycle style
carts, floats, chairs and umbrellas, and, for the adventurous
with money to spare, parasail rides.
