Hi
there!! I just wanted to express my feelings which
apparently are shared by many others, too shy to speak up.
Is there a place in the Lantern where you can post "opinion"
letters? Well, Here goes... Please publish this in the
next one if you can...I think your wife handles that?...
Anyway, regarding the beautification awards. It's a
wonderful program, but there are some flaws causing poor
feelings. Some of the members are 1. Disabled,
but try their best to keep there place up and be proud to live
here. 2. Some are on a fixed income, or little to no
income, but still do their best, even if it means sacrificing
and paying someone to do yard help, etc. Keeping a
beautiful home and landscape is expensive!. 3. What about
those who just can't do much, but still try..they are a proud
bunch and deserve credit...as those above do. 4.
What happened to "Most improved"? I've seen lots of
homes/yards that should have before/after photos due to those
who work so hard and in pain and with no funds. 5.
And lastly, where is the incentive if the "same" homes are
repeatedly given the award? I'm proud of my home, and it
has been a huge expense. I'm all alone since my husband
just recently passed away. It was so sweet to receive the
condolence flowers and card. That's how it should be, all
a big loving, caring family, with no covetness of our neighbor.
But, let's please try to keep the "fair" in Fairway
Estates. And congratulations to all the winners this
month! Tina 1212 Ruthbern
Hi Tina,
Thanks for
your email and taking the time to express your feelings.
Although there is not sufficient room in Lantern and it’s
only published 4 times a year we can put you comments on the
community website:
www.MyFairwayEstatesNews.com.
We (the Home
Owners Association Board of Directors) appreciate the feed
back (good or bad) that we receive from the residents. Let
me address your email point by point.
1.
Selection of winners of the Beautification Awards. Fairway
Estates is broken up into four areas:
1. Area #1: Includes Golfview, Sunview, Manor, Sunland and
Suwanee. Area #2: Includes Peachtree, Margina
and Mardrake Area # 3: Includes Ruthbern, Edgewater. Mollie
and Country Club. Area #4: Includes the 1100 blocks of
Peachtree, Margina and Suwanee and Iron Horse- Area #4 is
looked after Unit Eight HOA which is separate from the Home
Owners association representing areas 1, 2 and 3. We do not
have anything to do with the winners of the Beautification
awards for Section #4.
2.
The
selection of the winners:
We have requested and encouraged residents to make their
recommendations for winners. With approximately 650 homes in
Fairway Estates it’s difficult to monitor every home for the
purpose of the Beautification Awards. Numerous times the
winner is selected on the basis of a recommendation of a
neighbor. If a home has a noticeable improvement we try to
acknowledge that with a Beautification Award. Often times it
is on the basis of just maintaining property not because
there have been improvements.
3.
Same
homes being selected:
We try to avoid this, as we know this has happened in past
years. Records are now kept on a street by street basis.
This way we do not select the same home within a three year
period (unless there are special circumstances). We do this
to keep it fair and to avoid duplication. The winners are
selected for each area each month so as to avoid even the
same street being selected. For example in Area #1, the
first month it will go to a home on Golfview (or Manor-only
7 houses on Manor) or Sunview Place (only 4 houses on
Sunview). The next month it goes to Sunland and the next to
Suwanee and then back to Golfview. Each of the three areas
(that we are responsible for) is treated this way.
So, once again Tina thanks
for your comments. Hopefully, I have explained how the
awards work. Fairway Estates is a GREAT place to live. Let
me know if you have any questions or concerns.
